Utah Day 5: Vegas, Baby

After four full days of taking in nature's beauty, the next stop on our trip gave us a chance to revel in some of people's greatest (or worst, depending on your take on it) creations - awesome buildings, unlimited alcohol, indulgent food, and plenty of gambling. And of course, to observe the wildlife in their natural habitat.

Las Vegas is built to entertain, and in our 24 hours there, it didn't disappoint. We arrived at our hotel, the Stratosphere, around 11:30pm, exhausted and looking pretty rugged after a few days of hiking in the hot desert sun. CJ, Jessica, and I looked at our pitiful unkempt selves, shrugged, but on some semi-presentable clothes, and head up to the rooftop bar to look around. We only managed to watch a few people bungee jump off the 109 story rooftop before calling it a night. Not exactly "The Hangover" but hey, we tried.

We had almost the entire day to explore the strip before our red-eye flight took off and we did it all. Walked through all of the major casinos (my favorite is still the Wynn), watched the Bellagio fountain show, placed a few bets (I made $20!), and had a few Fat Tuesday drinks. The USA happened to have a world cup game that day, so we stopped into a PBR bar for lunch and some beers. Then off to the airport to head back to DC! Its funny, this was my 3rd time in Vegas and I still haven't spent a night "out" there. Maybe next time... ;)
