2.27 | Life Lately

It's finally starting to get nice out in DC, and I've been a little more motivated to leave my couch and Netflix :) This week I've been...

Starting my work days off with chia seed pudding. It's so easy to make ahead of time and delicious. (I use 1 cup of coconut milk and ~1/3 cup of chia seeds, and let sit in the fridge overnight). I added cinnamon and pear slices in this one.

Planning to make the most of my last few months as a DC-area resident by making this DC Bucket List

Struggling to get myself out the door to run without my Garmin (pathetic, I know). If you go for a run and didn't record it, did you even really run?

Running Jokes:Runner's and Their Garmins:

Drinking an amazing iced Americano from Zeke's Coffee. Not that I'm a coffee expert by any means, but I can get behind this small batch roaster based out of Baltimore.

Laughing at the ridiculous outfits that have been in style in the running community over the years, like wearing jean cutoffs for a national championship race.

Cleaning up this adventurous pup who just can't pass up a puddle of mud.

Watching Michael Pollan's Cooked documentary series on Netflix. He follows the evolution of food and visits the kitchens of different cultures each episode. Just make sure you're not hungry when you watch, because some of the food shown will make you salivate. I learned my lesson during the bread making episode...

Cooked: Netflix Documentary Series

Eating bunches of arugula with every meal. I'm not a huge salad fan, but I can trick myself into eating them if there's arugula involved.

Loving mission businesses like Good Food Market in Northeast Washington DC, who are bringing high quality, affordable produce and ready to eat meals in a neighborhood without easy access to a grocery store.

Appreciating this real artist of his craft, who found his passion making toast ;)

Waiting patiently for this vegan lentil and quinoa chili to cook in the slow cooker. It was definitely worth the 8 hour wait!

Being inspired by an unlikely source, listening to former Gourmet editor Ruth Reichl talk about how the secret to life is finding joy in ordinary things on an old episode of the Burnt Toast podcast.

Taking any excuse to eat some extra sweets. An extra layer of blubber means I could save money on the heat bill, right?

do you eat your chia pudding hot or cold? I wasn't a fan of it cold, but i think i tried it luke warm once and it was good. the pears in it look like a great idea! yum.

and your salad with arugula looks really yummmy... i might have to throw some arugula in mine because i struggle with eating salads. and that lentil and quinoa meal looks super good.. yum! basically i want all your food. i like your extra blubber theory :)

    1. Thanks! Love reading everyone's updates in the link up :)

I eat my chia pudding cold - haven't tried heating it up yet! I've been using coconut milk so it has a little bit of flavor to it. Hah arugula has been a game changer for me in helping to eat salads!
